Being an entrepreneur is full of challenges but is equally rewarding, especially for Devendra. Hailing from Pithoragarh, Devendra is an entrepreneur who started his own company – Creative Inventors which designs websites and is the Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri Training Institute which trains people in web designing. Devendra has completed his ‘Bachelors in Computer Application course from Delhi and has worked in Delhi as a web developer from 2015 to 2017. That’s where his passion towards Computer Application helped him in his journey to become an entrepreneur in Pithoragarh.

Devendra and his family shifted from Almora to Pithoragarh in January 2020. being new in an unfamiliar town was a challenge for the young entrepreneur. “I had started my company called the Creative Inventors of Pithoragarh as soon as I moved to Pithoragarh with a vision and I knew the direction I wanted to take it,” he said with a smile on his face.

As the Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri Training Institute which trained the people of Pithoragarh in the field of web designing and his own company which built websites he stumbled upon Margshala, a program created by India and Bharat together to expose the youth of Pithoragarh to the ocean of career opportunities, Devendra quickly enrolled himself to the program.

However, not even a month passed and his journey was halted when the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world, forcing Devendra to adhere to the lockdown protocol. This forced him to take a hiatus from his businesses just as quickly as they had begun.

“With everything shifting to the virtual world, it was very difficult to adapt as Pithoragarh is a remote town with unstable internet and many lacked the resources to switch to the online mode of learning and working,” he elucidates, “I used this time in the Margshala program, launched by IABT to provide career awareness to the youth of Uttarakhand. I already had my business and I knew where to take it but Margshala gave me more clarity with the different opportunities I was exposed to and got a structure to take my business forward.”

“Jasmeet sir, my mentor, taught me how to be disciplined, how to be unique and showcase my uniqueness through strategies and marketing. I was new to the town. I didn’t know a lot of people so I also saw Margshala as an opportunity to meet new people and network while learning,” he said as he recalled his journey of Margshala.

Devendra attended a lecture in the Margshala program which highlighted the different career opportunities in Pithoragarh and that was a turning point as it really motivated him and made him more determined and focused on the program as it gave him new modes and ideas to expand his company.

Using the strategies he learned with Margshala and with a new sense of direction, Devedra’s training institute is now thriving with over 90 registrations. He now feels his dreams turning into reality. He accredits his loving and supportive family for his success as they pushed him and his siblings to follow their dreams and passion and make something of themselves in the career path that makes them happy.

His goal is to reach into the other remote parts of India; teach the rural youth the skill of computer application; expose them to a world farther than what they know and broaden their horizons to be independent and dream bigger than what they do.
